- Résumé : "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame is a classic tale that explores the adventures and friendships of anthropomorphic animals living along a riverbank. The story begins with Mole, who, tired of spring-cleaning, ventures out of his underground home to explore the world above. He soon meets Rat, a water-loving rodent who introduces him to the joys of river life. Together, they embark on a series of adventures, including a visit to the extravagant Toad Hall, home of the wealthy and impulsive Toad. Toad's latest obsession with motorcars leads to a series of misadventures, including a disastrous caravan trip that ends with Toad's arrest. Meanwhile, Mole is eager to meet the reclusive Badger, who lives in the Wild Wood. Despite Rat's warnings, Mole ventures into the wood alone, only to be frightened by the mysterious creatures that inhabit it. Eventually, Rat rescues him, and they find solace in Badger's warm and welcoming home. The story unfolds with themes of friendship, loyalty, and the simple pleasures of life, as the characters navigate the challenges and joys of their idyllic world. Grahame's narrative is rich with vivid descriptions of the natural world, capturing the essence of the changing seasons and the beauty of the English countryside.
- Biographie : Kenneth Grahame (8 March 1859 - 6 July 1932) was a Scottish writer born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is most famous for The Wind in the Willows (1908), one of the classics of children's literature, as well as The Reluctant Dragon. Both books were later adapted for stage and film, of which A. A. Milne's Toad of Toad Hall, based on part of The Wind in the Willows, was the first. Other adaptations include Cosgrove Hall Films' The Wind in the Willows (and its subsequent long-running television series), and the Walt Disney films (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and The Reluctant Dragon).
