- Résumé : "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame is a classic tale that explores the themes of friendship, adventure, and the beauty of nature. The story begins with Mole, who, tired of his spring-cleaning, ventures out into the world above his underground home. He soon meets Rat, a water-loving rodent who introduces him to the joys of river life. Together, they embark on various adventures, including a visit to the eccentric Toad, who is obsessed with the latest fads, and a journey into the mysterious Wild Wood, home to the reclusive Badger. The narrative is rich with vivid descriptions of the English countryside, capturing the essence of each season and the simple pleasures of life. As the characters navigate their world, they encounter challenges that test their friendship and courage. Toad's reckless behavior, particularly his fascination with motorcars, leads to a series of misadventures that require the intervention of his friends. The story is a celebration of camaraderie and the enduring bonds between the characters, set against the backdrop of a pastoral landscape that is both enchanting and perilous. Grahame's work is a timeless exploration of the joys and trials of life, emphasizing the importance of friendship and the natural world.
- Biographie : Kenneth Grahame (8 March 1859 - 6 July 1932) was a Scottish writer born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is most famous for The Wind in the Willows (1908), one of the classics of children's literature, as well as The Reluctant Dragon. Both books were later adapted for stage and film, of which A. A. Milne's Toad of Toad Hall, based on part of The Wind in the Willows, was the first. Other adaptations include Cosgrove Hall Films' The Wind in the Willows (and its subsequent long-running television series), and the Walt Disney films (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and The Reluctant Dragon).
