- Résumé : Due to human and religious subjectivity fostered by dogmatic view points that have resulted in prejudices and incorrect readings of Biblical teachings, as well as historical trends and sequences, the history of Christianity has remained intricately mysterious or complexly enigmatic. This book, Thematic Issues on the History of the Christian Church, AD30-2024, Revised and Enlarged Edition, is a revision of the previous edition released in 2013, attempts the unravelling of this mystery. It is written in a world where there are many different religious perspectives and differing opinions regarding the historical themes and trends in Church history. It becomes necessary to expand and amend the earlier edition of Church History after more than ten years of teaching the course using it in order to update and add new themes to the work. Thus, this is the result of the revision and enlargement.Similar to the previous edition, this book breaks down the history of the Church into four sections: the Early Church, the Medieval Church, the Reformation Church, and Christianity in Nigeria. Each section is given additional topics and new insights. The Apostolic Age and its Influence on the Development and Expansion of the Church; African Church Leaders and their Role in the Development of the Early Christianity: A Historical Exploration are now included in Section One, The Early Church. The Role of the Church in Medieval Civilization; John Wycliffe and Jan Hus: A Glimpse into the Origins of the Morning Stars of the Reformation is a new theme introduced to Section Two, The Medieval Church. A new theme, John Wesley and the Methodism in the Expansion of Evangelicalism, was added to Section Three, The Reformation Church, and Section Four, Christianity in Nigeria, contains one more theme, Brief History of the Origin and Growth of Assemblies of God Nigeria.
