  • Résumé : "The Story of My Life" by Helen Keller is an autobiographical account that chronicles the early years of Keller's life, her experiences with her disabilities, and her journey towards education and self-realization. Born in 1880, Keller lost her sight and hearing at the age of 19 months due to an illness. The book details her struggles and triumphs as she learns to communicate with the world around her, largely through the help of her dedicated teacher, Anne Sullivan. Keller's narrative is not just a personal story but also a testament to the power of perseverance and the human spirit. The book is divided into chapters that cover different phases of her life, from her childhood in Alabama to her education at the Perkins Institute for the Blind and Radcliffe College. Keller's story is one of transformation, as she evolves from a frustrated child into a renowned author and activist. Her autobiography is a source of inspiration, highlighting the importance of education, the guidance of a supportive mentor, and the potential within every individual to overcome significant challenges.
  • Biographie : Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 - June 1, 1968) was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness when she was 19 months old. She then communicated primarily using home signs until the age of seven, when she met her first teacher and life-long companion Anne Sullivan. Sullivan taught Keller language, including reading and writing. After an education at both specialist and mainstream schools, Keller attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first deafblind person in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.
