- Biographie : John Vanbrugh, né le 24 janvier 1664 et mort le 26 mars 1726, est un architecte et dramaturge britannique. On lui doit notamment l'édification de palais de Blenheim et du château Howard. Il rédige également deux comédies engagées et argumentées : La Rechute ou la Vertu en danger en 1696 et L'Épouse outragée en 1697.
