  • Résumé : "The Girl Aviators on Golden Wings" by Margaret Burnham is an adventurous tale set against the backdrop of the Nevada desert. The story follows Peggy Prescott, her brother Roy, and their friends Jess and Jimsy Bancroft as they embark on a journey to assist Mr. James Bell, a mining magnate, in establishing an aerial transport line for his desert mine. Accompanied by their guardian, Miss Prescott, and Peter Bell, Mr. Bell's brother, the group sets out from Blue Creek, a small desert town, with a caravan of ponies and burros carrying their supplies and aeroplanes. As they traverse the harsh and arid landscape, they encounter the challenges of the desert, including the threat of a dry storm and the difficulty of finding potable water. Unbeknownst to them, a group of desert outlaws, led by the cunning Red Bill Summers and the charismatic Buck Bellew, are plotting to intercept their expedition and seize the mine's operations. The outlaws employ a Mexican guide, Juan, to spy on the party and gather information. Despite the looming danger, the young aviators remain determined to reach their destination and fulfill their mission. The narrative is rich with themes of adventure, friendship, and the pioneering spirit of early aviation, as the characters navigate both the physical and moral challenges posed by their journey.
