Biographie : Charles Perrault (1628-1703) contrôleur général des Bâtiments, académicien, auteur de poèmes, d'épopées, de pièces, de mémoires, doit pourtant la postérité à ses Histoires ou Contes du temps passé (1697), où l'on trouve le conte de La Belle au bois dormant. Ce conte traditionnel, dont on connaît d'autres versions écrites (dans Le conte des contes de Basile antérieurement, puis chez les frères Grimm) n'a pas cessé d'intriguer.
