- Résumé : "The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer is a seminal work in English literature, offering a vivid portrayal of medieval society through a collection of stories told by a diverse group of pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. This eBook, available through Project Gutenberg, is a public domain text that allows readers to explore the tales without restrictions. The collection includes a variety of narratives, each reflecting the storyteller's background and personality, ranging from chivalric romances to bawdy comedies. The tales are framed by a general prologue, where Chaucer introduces the pilgrims, each representing different social classes and occupations of the time. The work is notable for its use of Middle English and its innovative narrative structure, which provides insight into the cultural and social dynamics of 14th-century England. The Project Gutenberg edition includes audio readings by various contributors, enhancing the accessibility of Chaucer's work.
