Residence Award

More than ten years ago, home furnishings market in China was still at the beginning and advertisements boasting "free design" once flooded newspapers. Today with the mushrooming of high rises, home design has become an important part of a well-off life for every household. As a publisher in the home design field, in a short span of ten years I've personally experienced the increasingly higher demand of society and individual customers towards a quality life.

The "RESIDENCE" Awards organised by the Residence magazine aims at creating a platform for the communication among clients, designers and material suppliers, for the demonstration of top home designs at present, for the improvement of customers' tastes concerning home design, and for the establishment of a harmonious co-existing living environment. Moreover, the programme is intended to bring out new brilliant designers in the home design field. Consequently, excellent interior designers would gain the fame they deserve in society, and new blood could be continuously injected to interior design field in China which advocates a life style that better incorporates our cultural deposits.

The programme is encouragingly responded by designers, receiving more than 200 design proposals from more than 100 designers. After the review of the judging committee, fifty outstanding designs are selected and presented here, with floor plans contributing more professional reference value. Lastly, on behalf of the editorial department of Residence, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the friends who have spared no effort to help us.
