- Résumé : "Plague Ship" by Andre Norton, originally published in 1956 under the pseudonym Andrew North, is a science fiction novel that follows the crew of the Free Trader spaceship, the Solar Queen. The narrative begins with the crew landing on a planet known for its exotic perfumes, only to find themselves embroiled in a series of unexpected challenges. As they navigate through rivalries and unforeseen dangers, the crew encounters a mysterious illness that threatens their survival and the safety of their mission. The story unfolds with a blend of adventure and suspense, as the crew must employ desperate measures to combat the spreading contagion. The novel explores themes of camaraderie, resilience, and the unpredictability of space exploration. Norton's vivid world-building and character development create a gripping tale that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The book is structured into eighteen chapters, each contributing to the unfolding mystery and the crew's struggle against the odds. As the plot progresses, the crew's ingenuity and determination are tested, leading to a climactic resolution that underscores the novel's central themes.
