Wolfhart Pannenberg compte parmi les plus grands théologiens de la fin du XXe siècle. Son oeuvre, commencée par une réflexion sur la révélation de Dieu dans l'histoire, s'est prolongée jusqu'à la rédaction d'une théologie systématique, en cours de traduction (à paraître aux Editions du Cerf). Le présent ouvrage esquisse les lignes directrices de cette oeuvre, en prêtant une attention particulière à la théologie trinitaire, à l'histoire de la théologie protestante, et à la mise en évidence des relations entre théologie et philosophie. Une question se pose : une théologie peut-elle présenter le contenu essentiel de la foi chrétienne, tout en tenant compte des formes modernes de rationalité ? Si oui, comme en est convaincu Pannenberg, quelles relations de Dieu à ce monde cette théologie met-elle en évidence ? Dans les écrits de Pannenberg nous avons une oeuvre stimulante et riche, à laquelle cette étude voudrait introduire.

Wolfhart Pannenberg is considered one of the greatest theologians of the late 20th century. His work, which began with a meditation on the revelation of God in history, continued right up to the writing of a systematic theology, now in the process of translation (for publication by Editions du Cerf). The present volume presents the main outlines of Pannenberg's work, paying particular attention to Trinitarian theology, the history of Protestant theology and the revealing of the relationship between theology and philosophy. One question arises: can a theology present the essential contents of the Christian faith while taking account of modern forms of rationality? If the answer is yes, as Pannenberg is convinced, what relations between God and our world are brought to light by this theology? In Pannenberg's writings we have an oeuvre that is both stimulating and rich, to which this study aims to serve as an introduction.
