  • Résumé : "Grace Harlowe's Overland Riders in the High Sierras" by Jessie Graham Flower is a thrilling tale of adventure, camaraderie, and courage. The story follows Grace Harlowe and her friends, known as the Overland Riders, as they embark on a summer journey to the High Sierras. The group, which includes Grace, her husband Tom Gray, and their friends Hippy Wingate, Nora Wingate, Elfreda Briggs, Emma Dean, and newcomer Stacy Brown, is eager for adventure and the challenges that the rugged terrain promises. As they travel on the Red Limited train, they encounter a boastful traveling salesman and a mysterious sheriff named Bill Ford. The tranquility of their journey is shattered when the train is held up by bandits seeking to rob the express car of its treasure. Sheriff Ford, along with Tom, Hippy, and other brave passengers, organizes a defense against the robbers. Despite the danger, the Overland Riders, including the women, show remarkable bravery and resourcefulness. Hippy Wingate undertakes a daring mission to thwart the bandits' plans, but he goes missing during the chaos. The group, led by Sheriff Ford, is determined to find him, even if it means venturing into the treacherous mountain terrain. The story is a testament to the group's unyielding spirit and their willingness to face danger head-on to protect one another. With its blend of action, humor, and the spirit of adventure, the novel captures the essence of the Overland Riders' indomitable will and the bonds of friendship that hold them together.
