  • Résumé : The play begins with the unjust banishment of Rosalind, the daughter of Duke Senior, from her uncle's court. Rosalind, accompanied by her cousin Celia, disguises herself as a young man named Ganymede and flees to the Forest of Arden. In the forest, Rosalind encounters Orlando, a young man with whom she has fallen in love. Orlando is also fleeing the oppressive court, having been mistreated by his brother Oliver. Rosalind, disguised as Ganymede, decides to test Orlando's love by engaging in witty and often humorous exchanges with him. Meanwhile, in the Forest of Arden, various characters are seeking refuge or solace. Duke Senior, banished like his daughter Rosalind, is living a pastoral life along with his followers. The forest becomes a place of refuge for others as well, including the melancholic Jaques and the shepherds Corin and Silvius. The play also introduces the character of Touchstone, a court jester, who accompanies Rosalind and Celia in their journey. His witty banter and humorous observations add a comedic element to the story. "As You Like It" includes one of Shakespeare's most famous speeches, "All the world's a stage," delivered by the character Jaques. The play concludes with multiple marriages and a return to order, a common feature in Shakespearean comedies.
  • Biographie : William Shakespeare (bapt. 26 April 1564 - 23 April 1616) was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the Bard of Avon (or simply the Bard). His extant works, including collaborations, consist of some 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. Shakespeare remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
