- Résumé : Irish potato is among the most important tuber crops produced in Rwanda and is among priority crops on which the national programme of intensification and development of sustainable production systems is primarily focusing, it is an important food security crop in Rwanda but its productivity is low at 9 t/ha (Muhinyuza et al, 2014). Our study proposed the objective of evaluating the contribution of Irish potatoes cultivated by COVMB cooperative for the socio-economic development in the rural areas of Nemba Sector of Burera District. To achieve the objective above, the study was conducted by the use of research instruments and materials such as the study area with its population, questionnaire, Computer for data analysis and processing. Direct discussion and observation methods have been used; the primary data were directly collected from farmers of Nemba Sector especially the members of COVMB Cooperative while secondary data were collected from various published studies about cooperative, potato production and its contribution to socio-economic development through books, reports and internet in order to provide enough and adequate information on this study.
