- Résumé : The intent of the study consisted to assess the role and functions of food security on the reduction of malnutrition. When the effective nutrition education will be attained, this will be significant to reduce hunger and malnutrition in the population living in HUYE District. It is from that point of view this research were conducted. The continuous measurement is being made in order to evaluate the progress. The cross section data were used in order to know the view of the population about the Food Security. The data were obtained through a questionnaire. And they were analyzed with the help of statistical software Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The research findings indicated that the rate of malnutrition Huye district is improving with regard to the previews years. As recommendation, there is strong need to put up the evaluation criteria because the existing methods seems to be not applicable at household level, there is a need to harmonize all ways which can be used in eradicating malnutrition that may be signed among households. Leaders need to sensitize people about the malnutrition because majority of people interviewed demonstrated that they don't know them.
