Each proverb is written in Kakwa followed by its literal meaning and then the actual meaning. It is thought that the literal meaning can help in imagination, symbolism or perception. Brief notes are also given for each proverb to enable people who are not familiar with Kakwa culture and language comprehend the circumstances under which each proverb was produced.
